I've only run through the first set of ink cartridges with this printer. Great color, especially with portraits.
I think I'll nickname it "Audrey 2". I don't know why they put such small ink cartridges in such a large format printer, and being pigment inks I worry if I'll feed it enough paper to keep the ink in suspension.
I've been using my trusty old Epson 980 so when this huge box arrived it was a wee bit intimidating at first. Within 20 minutes of opening the box I ran my first prints and they were dazzling.
I don't expect it will be a problem since I really like using it.One difficulty I had was with the print utility as viewed with Mac OS X 10.4; it would tell me which ink cartridge had run out but wouldn't display a visual showing current ink levels, but that's not the printer's fault. I had to find a larger piece of furniture to set the R1900 up on.
Setting up was easy, much easier than the instruction page made it look like it would be.
i've been an artist and photographer since the early eighties and i find this printer amazing in replicating pigments even from those in my oil paintings to faithfully reproducing my photographs. very satisfied.
Using it for color pictures requires a lot of ink and cartridges do not last long. I purchased this printer mainly for printing pictures and transfer designs. Hopefully, someday, the price of these cartridges will be less. I use my HP printer for all other printing. I was impressed at the beautiful pictures and find it easy to operate; however, it is expensive to operate as a full-time printer. At this time, I only use this printer when I have to for pictures and transfers because of the high cost of the ink cartridges.
We dont' trust you anymore Jeffy boy. Why does Amazon make a practice of showing totally inflated MSRPs. Epson's own website shows a list price of 549.99 for this printer. They offer it for sale at 449.99.
I will be getting rid of this printer as soon as I get through some of the extra ink I bought for it. When running the nozzle cleaning cycles it eats through a bunch of ink, and usually takes several tries. Epson has tried to help with phone support, but a brand new printer shouldn't have problems like this. The printer seems to get head clogs any time I transport it. This is something that my 2 year old r1800 has no problem with.
